The first two entries in the series are pretty much synonymous with the Playstation here in the US. But it wasn’t until a version was released on the Playstation that the game really grew in popularity. Later, the game was ported to the Sega Saturn, where it found mild success. Like most fighting games, the first Dead or Alive game actually got its start as an arcade title.
